Fun Times At Home

Over the Thanksgiving break we watched Hotel for Dogs. Cooper paid a little attention to it and Max loved to watch all the dogs. So much so that it almost made me feel bad for him like we need to get him a friend or something. But there is no way I feel bad enough to to get another dog.

So anyway as we were watching the movie Cooper settled in on Ladds lap and began watching, which in its self is amazing because he doesn’t settle down and well he could really care less about TV.
Toward the end of the show all the dogs are captured by the dog pound and they are taken away and locked up and the girl and her brother who are foster kids are separated. I look over at Ladd and Cooper and Coopers eyes are welling with tears and he begins to whine and slightly cry. At first I thought something was wrong but then you hear him say puppy and point at the TV. He totally knew what was going on. Ladd and I were both in awe that he was comprehending all this. He was so upset and concerned. It made Ladd cry which isn’t hard cause he chocks up pretty easily at sappy moments in movies. Then of course as I am looking at the two of them I tear up cause you can’t help but get tears looking at something so precious. It was honestly the cutest moment.

Ok so I know I haven’t posted pictures of our new house…… but for those of you who have visited us you all know it’s a lot bigger then are old house. So much so that playing hide ‘n’ go seek is a perfect game for the house. Now let me give you a little insight. When I was little playing hide ‘n’ go seek was one of my favorite games. We played it alot especially in the house. When we lived in Hawaii we had these huge rooms with massive closets and you could climb up the little cubby holes and hide in the top of the closets it was the best hiding spot. The house was just full of great hiding places. Then even in Colorado we would play at our house at friends’ houses. I can even remember playing it at the houses I babysat at. One time I let a little boy hide in the dryer by the time they found him he was super sweaty… so note to self the dryer is not I repeat not a good hiding place. Anyway I always loved the game and always always wanted a house big enough to play in.
So now that I have my own big house why not play? The other night my nephews Derek, Christopher, and Anthony were over for a bit and we started up a game of hide ‘n’ go seek. Even Ladd and Cooper played. It was tons of fun there were so many places to hide. The only place off limits was Ladds office too many wires, computers, random antlers, and what not. The game was tons of fun everyone managed to find some great hiding places. This one time I was it and went searching up stairs and honestly couldn’t find anyone then all the sudden I heard this vibrating noise coming from the bathroom closet. Derek had climbed all the way up to the top and was hiding on the shelf, if it had not been for his cell phone I know I would not have found him. Then Anthony he is still small enough that he can squeeze into about anywhere. he was hard to find. Ladd even managed to pull off some pretty good places, and Cooper well he just thought the whole thing was fun. If you weren’t careful when you hid, and he or Max happened to see where you were going well consider yourself caught because they would give you away instantly. The winner of the night was by far Christopher he was never it. He always had the best hiding spaces. His last space was in the top corner of the closet in the upstairs room. It took forever to find him. But eventually with everyones help we were able to find him. We honestly played forever; so long in fact that Cooper was telling us it was time to go to bed so we had to call the game off. The night was so much fun… we will definitely have to plan a repeat!

Cooper's update

Ok I don't want to brag but since this is my blog I will. My little boy is so stinking cute. A couple of weeks ago I had Ladd take some pictures of Cooper. He was a little monster the whole time of course, until the very end when he got ahold of Ladd's old cowboy hat. He would not let it go. But his pictures turned out so cute that I cannot complain. He has the cutest smile!

Cooper keeps us so busy he is in to everything and always going. He is only 19 months old and already he is climbing up chairs and onto the counters. The other morning I walked into my bathroom and he had climbed up onto the tub edge and was leaning over to the sink brushing his teeth, water full blast with his electric tiger tooth brush spinning tooth paste all over. He has mastered stairs, windows, doors, lights, vacuums, ladders, the dogs shock collar (lucky for Max he has not figured out how to turn it on, he just knows that somehow this mysterious controller goes to the dog collar) and last of all he can start a car. Oh and if we let him he could ruin our garage doors… up down…up down…. This list could go on and on. He is the smartest little guy. I am amazed by him every day. We sure do love him!

Moving....Buying....Moving

So here is a little up date on the latest happenings. We sold our house about a month ago!!! YEAH!! Time to celebrate! We are officially moved out and living in Ladd’s Mom’s basement! It’s a tight fit but actually a lot of fun. I know I know you are all thinking we are crazy (three of us in one room plus a dog)but living in the basement has always been the plan. We have been hunting for houses and checking out a few different lots, but didn’t want to make a move on anything until we knew just exactly what we were going to make on the sell of our house. So now the real fun has begun!!! We have been going through the list of houses we picked out and driving to a lot of random open lots with building options. About two weeks ago we actually kinda sorta did a little breaking and entering. We had found this house that I really liked and it has been on the market this whole time as we have been waiting to sell our house, so I cannot even tell you how many times I have looked at it on line. Well we did a little drive by just to see it. Nina Lee, Lisa, Ladd and I jumped out of the truck while sweet Sam kept Cooper company (thanks!). As we made our way around the house peeking in all the windows I am sure we looked like fools but I really wanted to see in.
Anyway so Lisa was walking around the house ahead of us and the next thing we know she is waving at us from within the house. She had found an open door (way to go Lisa). I about died and Ladd thought it was her reflection on who knows what. So in we all went. It was beautiful just simply beautiful, and at that moment all I wanted to do was move in LOL. It was a fun night.
This whole house thing is nerve racking, exciting and crazy! But Ladd and I are so ready for a move and something new and bigger. We make a great team and this whole experience has in a sense been fast, but not really looking at houses for 11 months gets old and hard they all start to blend together (we even have all sorts of pictures on our cameras and the houses still blend together). But all our searching has paid off.
So let me end this blog by saying
WE BOUGHT THE HOUSE I LOVE ….
AND HAVE LOVED FOR 11 MONTHS NOW
I can’t wait to get in… and this time do it with a key!

I Know Blog Already

Ok Ok... I am working on it. I have been slacking big time on our blog. I really have no excuses it has just been busy and I have been lazy. This summer has gone by fast... a few events to remember.
I got my tonsils out
Cooper got molars
Ladd is working on getting ready for a big system upgrade at the hospital
Visit from my parents and sister
Lots of searching for houses and land
Camping with the Wildes
Fishing trips for Ladd
Trip to Colorado Springs (we will blog about that one so stay tuned)

I am sure there are a ton of things I need to put on this list but these are the ones that popped into my head. It has been a good summer I reallly hate that it went by so fast!

Make My Day

Erica has always been a trooper when it comes to me and all my habits especially my hunting and guns. During our engagement she took the Hunter safety class partly because she figured it might be a good idea to know how to handle all the guns I have, but mostly she took the class because her Grandpa Floyd pushed her into it. I wish I had her practice rabbit target, as a beginner she was a great shot.

The beginning of this year I took a concealed firearms permit class. In fact Erica let me host the class at our house, and she took the class too; mainly I think she took it because it was free for us for hosting it and getting friends to sign up. So now to add to her permits she has a concealed weapons permit! WOW now thats hot if I say so myself!
.
A few weeks ago she came with me to a new class taught by one of our good friends. He is on the police force and with another partner they started the Bonneville Firearms Training Academy. The class is designed to give you better marksmanship and confidence with your sidearm. Erica has only shot my handgun once and I can tell you she was nervous going to this class not really knowing much about handguns.

Well to make this long story short DAMN SHE WAS GOOD. I was proud of her watching her handle a Glock 17, 9mm. By the end of the class she could manipulate everything on that gun, from shooting it to clearing a jam she had it down. And as for her target well you can see for yourself.

You do not want to get in her way!
Erica will definitely never be a gun slinging annie which is to bad because she is a great shot and she sure does look hot with a gun on her hip.
